I agree that the tag itself will probably have little impact. At the same time, though, I wouldn’t go as far as to assume that a “lite” badge means that it’s an active product. I mean, the pro version can be a totally separate thing and doesn’t necessarily mean that the lite version is kept up-to-date too. 🙂

Glad to hear, we had a case when a custom changed a plugin review from 5* to 1*, just because we have added a premium version ( without removing any existing features for that client) 🙂

It wouldn’t bother me at all to use a plugin tagged “Lite” as long as that plugin offered the features that I need. I currently use both Lite and Pro plugins and themes, depending on my particular needs in each instance.

Marking that a product also has a Pro version is a signal for the users that the plugin is an active product, that someone is interested in keeping it alive. It’s also a sign that it will receive updates and that support is available as well. It’s something you’d want the users to see
I think it depends a lot on how you present the plugin, the tag alone will not kill sales, nor boost them.
